Tri Timing Upgrade a Game Changer

Ballarat Triathlon Club has taken a leap forward with a new dual-point electronic timing system to deliver safer, smarter and more inclusive local events for athletes of all levels.

The upgrade was made possible through combined support from Community Bank Buninyong, the City of Ballarat, and the club’s own reserves. After 20 years with the same system, the new tech is a major step forward.

With dual timing points, the club can now offer:

  • Instant and accurate results

  • Safer course designs, especially for juniors and first-timers

  • A stronger event experience that attracts people from across the region

It also eases the load on volunteers, allowing them to focus on supporting participants instead of managing timekeeping by hand.

Ballarat Triathlon Club Vice President and Event Organiser Molly Voss said, “Upgrading from our 20-year-old timing system is a game changer. It means we can keep offering high-quality, low-cost local events and grow participation in triathlon. Thanks to Community Bank Buninyong’s support, we’re excited to welcome more people to our sport.”

The club is already seeing results and is inviting newcomers to their event on 2 February at Lake Esmond, welcoming everyone from seasoned triathletes to those just keen to have a go.
