Over the past three years our Community Bank has supported the Ballarat Upstart Challenge. Our support means the program is heavily subsided for secondary schools across the Ballarat region.
The Upstart Challenge is a unique entrepreneurial challenge for secondary students who developed innovative business and community solutions, often influenced by their experiences. They were encouraged to consider how to make a positive impact, whether in their local community or tackling large global issues.
“We are very pleased with the impact the Upstart Challenge has had on the community over the last few years. We set out to inspire and upskill young people in the community to develop an awareness of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and build confidence in their ability to create their own pathways and jobs.
We are proud that as well introducing these vital entrepreneurial skills to over 500 students in the region, this has been far exceeded in generating a supportive community around these objective including teachers, parents, business and the broader community” says Heather Kelly, Upstart’s Co-Founder & Director.
