Nallei Jerring Strengthens Cultural Connection

In 2025 the Nallei Jerring Program, delivered by the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation made significant strides in empowering First Nations youth across the Ballarat region and Community Bank Buninyong is proud to have played a part in its success.

This initiative supports young people through cultural workshops, leadership activities and community connection opportunities. We love results like this too....

  • 100% of participants felt more confident engaging with their community

  • 80% reported increased confidence in themselves and their abilities

  • 98% developed strong connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role models or mentors.

The feedback from participants was heartfelt and honest, reflecting the program’s real impact:

“My confidence has improved a lot… I have gotten out of my shell more.”
“Just being part of the community makes me feel more connected to my cultures.”
“I don’t have to hide it anymore. I’m proud of who I am.”

These comments show how vital cultural identity, belonging and mentorship are in supporting young people.

Western Bulldogs Community Foundation Head of Programs and Impact, Hannah Singleton said,

“We are really proud to partner with Community Bank Buninyong on our Nallei Jerring Program to support First Nations youth in the Ballarat region. Together we’re really championing youth empowerment.”

By backing this program, Community Bank Buninyong is helping open pathways for leadership, pride and resilience, all outcomes that benefit not just individuals, but the broader community.
