Historic fire cart displayed

Our Community Bank didn’t hesitate to support the Buninyong CFA construct a purpose-built home for the historic Merryweather (1899). The magnificent horse drawn cart has been part of Buninyong’s history for over a century and our support ensures it will be preserved for generations to come. Not only that, but passers-by can see it overlooking Learmonth Street and our kids can be told stories about what she might have done in bygone years. We funded the purpose-built room as part of the new station completed this year. This ensures the cart won’t deteriorate further in the dedicated room which includes a special temperature control system. It was a key priority that the Merryweather be housed in the right environmental conditions. The dedicated room includes full-length windows so it can be publicly displayed and enjoyed by the community. There’s additional space to store other significant historical pieces too. The final touches are now being completed including a full-wall historical image.
