Care where it's needed most

When people are doing it tough, practical help can mean everything.
That is the work happening every day at Community Care Centre Ballarat, where local Rotary groups have come together to create one central place for donated goods to be collected, sorted and passed on to people who need support.
The centre helps people experiencing homelessness, vulnerability or the sudden loss of household items after hardship or crisis.
Community Bank Buninyong’s Community Partnerships Lead Kelly Bevan recently visited the centre to see the work up close and learn more about the difference it is making across Ballarat.
Warren Payne from Community Care Centre said the goal is simple: to make sure donated goods can get to people who need them, when they need them.
“It is about giving people practical support and helping them get back on their feet,” Warren said.
Items donated through the centre can help people set up a home again, replace essentials or access basic goods during a difficult time.
Kelly said the visit was a reminder of how much quiet work happens behind the scenes in local communities.
“This is community care in its most practical form. It is local people seeing a need, working together and making sure support reaches people who are doing it tough. That kind of work matters especially at the moment", she said.
Community Bank Buninyong is proud to support organisations helping people through real challenges.
And it's evidenced when local groups work together, care becomes something people can actually hold in their hands.
