The Buninyong–Mount Helen Fire Brigade has welcomed a major upgrade to its operational capacity with the arrival of a new, fully-equipped Forward Command Vehicle (FCV) thanks to a collaboration between two local community partners.
Funded by a $30,000 contribution from Community Bank Buninyong, $20,000 from the Buninyong–Mt Helen Lions Club and additional community fundraising, the Ford Ranger FCV is now fully operational and ready to serve.
Buninyong–Mt Helen CFA Captain Gareth Smith said the FCV was a ‘game-changer’.
“This vehicle is essential for on-site command and control. It allows us to respond faster, work smarter and protect our members more effectively in the fire field.”
The new FCV is a mobile command unit designed to significantly enhance the Brigade’s ability to coordinate responses across both local and regional emergency events.
Community Bank Buninyong’s Partnership Lead Kelly Bevan said, “We’re so proud to be part of this collaboration. This isn’t just a vehicle, it’s a reflection of what happens when two major local funding partners come together for real, impactful and practical outcomes that benefit our community, particularly over summer.”
