Last year the Ballarat-born initiative Reverse Advent Calendars distributed 1500 boxes to local families in need just before Christmas. Nationally, 6000 packs were shared from Perth to Canberra and from Hobart to Brisbane đ.
The innovative idea of local teacher Heather Luttrall, Reverse Advert Calendars started with a small group of friends and now includes a much larger network of caring Australians doing good just before the holiday period đ.
Heather is Community Bank Buninyongâs Scholarship recipient for the renowned Committee of Ballaratâs Future Shapers Program in 2024.
âReverse Advent Calendars allowed me to see the best of people, their generosity and the benefits of giving locally. This has inspired me to learn more about Ballarat, the programs that currently operate and the potential for the future of our cityâ.
âFuture Shapers seemed like a program that would allow me to learn more, ask curious questions and explore the priorities of the Committee for Ballarat. Itâs as much about personal growth, community impact, giving back and making connections with other like-minded people as anything elseâ, she said.
With someone like Heather at the helm, our Community Bank is only too pleased to support her development knowing sheâll continue to give back to our community like the leader sheâs already shown herself to be.
